Binghamton has been awarded nearly $800,000 to aid in the construction of new apartments. Governor Kathy Hochul announced $6.7 million to create and preserve 52 affordable homes in New York State and some of those homes are in Binghamton. Binghamton was awarded $784,000 for the construction of 12 apartments in two six-unit buildings on Munsell Street. The money comes from the New York State Homes and Community Renewal's Small Rental Development Initiative. All the apartments will be affordable to households earning 80 percent or less of the area median income, according to a press release from Hochul's office.
